Sumit Mitra

Sumit Mitra is Group Head – Human Resources and Corporate Services at Godrej Industries Group and has been with the organisation for 30 years. In his role, he shapes the Group’s people and organisational agenda, building a purposeful, inclusive, and high-performance culture while strengthening the Godrej employer brand for over 25,000 team members across more than 20 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Having joined Godrej as a management trainee, Sumit has worked across multiple Group businesses, including FMCG, Real Estate, and Food and Agriculture. He has played a central role in building a future-ready organisation that attracts and develops global talent, and in enabling the Group’s growth through leadership in due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, change management, and cross-cultural integration. He also spearheads Godrej Good & Green, the Group’s sustainability and CSR platform focused on creating shared value and addressing social and environmental challenges.

He serves as an Independent Director on the board of Kirloskar Industries and is a member of national CII committees on HR and leadership.

He holds an MBA in Human Resources from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management.

Sumit enjoys travelling and is a bonsai enthusiast with a large personal collection, which is displayed at the Group headquarters in Mumbai.
